Why I Blog
Writing was always a passion of mine growing up. I used to write fiction stories for fun on my parent’s desktop computer, creating characters and narratives from a very young age. As I got older and adult life started, I slowly began to write less and less. For those who have been to college in any capacity, I don’t need to tell you that trying to maintain your hobbies is a challenge. I stopped writing altogether after becoming overwhelmed with the demands of school work and studying. Since graduating, it has taken me a minute to get back into it – it can be easy to forget the passions and hobbies from your childhood once you become an adult. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in your career and forget about the things that once made you so happy. I am so excited to be starting this blog and to finally be writing again!
I’ve always had this perfect timeline in my head of how my life was supposed to unfold. As I get older, I am learning that this timeline I’ve always had set for myself isn’t even what I truly want, it’s just what I think that I’m supposed to do. I always thought that after I graduated college and got married, I’d buy a house, have a few kids, grow old in my hometown, etc. “Settle down” if you will. However, since graduating and getting engaged, my fiancé and I have realized that neither of us actually want that. We are so happy living the city life. We want to travel the world and the idea of living in a new place excites us. Kids? Maybe. Maybe not. I have decided that I’m done making plans for my life, I’m done trying to fit into the perfect timeline that I created for myself as a teenager, and I’m done creating goals for myself just because it’s what I think that I am supposed to do. This blog is about branching out and doing what I love, traveling the world, trying new things, and being totally unanchored.
A Snippet About Me
I am 25 years old, I live in the beautiful state of Michigan with my wonderful fiancé, Nick. We met in college at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and have been together for a little over five years. We are currently planning our wedding for 2019!
My faith is super important to me. I am an avid Christ follower and have to give God the credit for all of the good things in my life. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Him.
I am so excited to share the passions in my life and give you a little insight into what it means to do the opposite of settling down.
