Okay, I couldn’t post my international bucket list without following it up with my US travel bucket list. I knew this would have to be an entirely separate post because there are so many places that I want to go in the US alone. I am so fortunate to live in such a geographically diverse country where I have easier travel access. I’ve been to Florida a lot. Growing up, we would road trip there from Michigan and it was always a blast. I’ve also been to Cape Cod, Washington DC, and several places in Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, among other various cities, so none of those will be on my list simply because I’ve been there already, not because they aren’t amazing.
New York City – I’m a city girl at heart and it pains me that I still haven’t been to NYC. I pretty much need to spend a solid week just exploring and experiencing all the touristy things. I definitely want to experience the Empire State Building, World Trade Center and 9/11 Memorial, and the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I also am going to need an entire day just to walk around Central Park. I love musicals, so I’d love to see a show on Broadway. Pretty much all of the New York staples, I would love to do. On top of the touristy things though, I want to experience what life is actually like. I love exploring new places, and I’d love to explore New York and try the local favorites.
Utah – Utah is filled with gorgeous National and State Parks that I would love to see. It would definitely have to be a trip where I rent a car and travel the whole state. Zion National Park looks amazing, I would want to hike and camp there for at least a few days. The towering canyons and rock formations are stunning and put it at the top of my list for National Parks. Of course, I’d also want to go to Salt Lake City and explore the picturesque city. I also want to see the Rocky Mountains. The Wasatch Range stretches into Utah near Salt Lake City and it is definitely something I need to see.
California – Where to even begin in California? This is going to be another state where renting a car is going to be necessary. I’d drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco and explore everything in between. I want to go to Disneyland – of course – for a few days. I’ve been to Disney World a lot but I’ve never been to Disneyland. I also want to go to Napa Valley and go on vineyard tours and try the amazing wine. Since I was young, I’ve always wanted to see California’s Redwood Coast. The enormous trees are so cool looking; there’s something so intriguing about trees that are large enough to carve roads through them and I can’t wait to see them for myself.
Hawaii – Does this one really need an explanation? Hawaii is a gorgeous tropical island state, need I say more? I want to explore the whole thing, no exaggeration here. I want to see every one of the Hawaiian Islands. The scenery here is breathtaking, from the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on The Big Island to the Waimea Canyon State Park on Kauai, it’s somewhere I can’t wait to see. I also want to experience the culture and learn more about the history of Hawaii. I’d love to go to a luau and see the exciting performances and hear the lively music. I also can’t wait to try the amazing food that Hawaii has to offer. I love seafood and poke and I know that what I have eaten at home does not compare to what you can get in Hawaii.
Alaska – I can’t wait to see Alaska one day. With its gorgeous towering mountain ranges and enormous glaciers, the Alaskan wilderness is one of the most intriguing. I want to see Denali National Park not just for the highest mountain peak in the US, but also for the wildlife. I would also love to go to Kenai Fjords National Park to see the beautiful fjords either by kayak or boat. Additionally, I am obsessed with sea life and have always wanted to go whale watching. I would love to see whales in their natural habitat and I can’t wait to go one day. And of course, I’d love to go to Fairbanks to see the Northern Lights.
What do you think of my US travel bucket list? A lot of the places that I want to go are for the scenery. The US is such a beautiful country and I know that I need to explore more. I haven’t even put a dent in the places that I want to see here and I can’t wait to keep going! What places in the US are on your bucket list? Let me know in the comments below!
