My favorite makeup products are hands down eyeshadow palettes. I have definitely become something of a collector over the course of the last year. The reason being, you can always create new looks with different shades and finishes. I get so excited when a brand releases a new eyeshadow palette with shades that I don’t have or normally use. After adding to my makeup collection all year, I can confidently tell you which one is my favorite from 2018. The Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette.
With the discontinuation of the original Naked Palette in 2018 – may it rest in peace – came the launch of something new. The Naked Cherry Palette is a 12 shade palette with an array of shades from neutral beiges, to dark browns and pinks, with some peachy shades in between. It has matte and shimmer shades for a versatile look. It comes with lighter shades for a natural look, bolder shades for a pink and/or brown smokey eye, and brighter shades for a fun colorful look. It has made a great everyday palette as well as for a night out.
Naked Cherry is arguably Urban Decay’s best Naked Palette to date. Hear me out on this. While I love the OG Naked Palette and it’s sequels, the quality just doesn’t compare. Naked 3 is another old favorite of mine with the rose gold toned shades, but the blendability and color payoff is outdated. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a great eyeshadow palette and one that I still use on a regular basis, but you can tell the difference in the formula from the newer Naked Palettes. Another crowd favorite was Urban Decay’s Naked Heat Palette from 2017. While I agree that Naked Heat’s formula and quality are similar to that of Naked Cherry, it is not as versatile. Naked Heat is full of bright red and orange warm tones that, for me, are not as easy to create looks out of without going for a sunset-eye type of look. Overall, I would recommend any of the Naked Palettes to someone looking for a high quality eyeshadow palette, but Naked Cherry would be the number one recommendation.
While I love Urban Decay’s eyeshadow palettes, I wouldn’t be able to confidently recommend Naked Cherry if it was the only brand that I used. I thought long and hard about which palette from 2018 was my favorite but each time I came up with a great one, I ended up comparing it to Naked Cherry. Like I said, I collect eyeshadow palettes, so the 2018 launches from Colourpop and Anastasia Beverly Hills as well as Too Faced and Tarte – to name a few – make up a pretty solid group. But none of the other palettes that I got in 2018 are as versatile or have as velvety of a formula as Naked Cherry.
I could go on and on about how great of a palette Naked Cherry is. If someone were to ask me the one eyeshadow palette that they should invest in, this would be the one. There are so many looks that you can do with it and the quality of the eyeshadow is fantastic. Do you agree with my choice? What was your favorite eyeshadow palette from 2018?
